Install
One script tag. No new dependency.
Letter Edit ships inside the Letter Visitors script. There is nothing extra to add to your bundle: once Visitors is on your site and the steps below are done, ⌘L works on every page.
- 1
Create your Letter account and add your site
Get started with Letter. An account and a site come out of it, along with your site's Visitors key.
- 2
Add the Visitors script to your <head>
Put your site's Visitors tag in the root layout so it loads on every page. Copy the exact tag from Letter: it carries your site's public key. It looks like this:
<script async src="https://lettervisit.com/v.js?k=lv_pub_…" data-key="lv_pub_…"></script>The same tag counts your visitors, the AI agents reading your pages and the companies behind your visits. Edit is a module inside it.
- 3
Verify the site
Verify the site in Letter's Visitors settings to prove the domain is yours. Letter Edit only turns on for verified sites.
- 4
Turn identification on
Letter Edit runs on Visitors' identification module, a paid module you switch on per site in Letter. Once it is on, the site's Visitors settings show the editor module as enabled.
- 5
Connect the repository
Builds open pull requests on the repository your site is built from, so connect it in Letter. The fastest way: run Letterpress in your site's folder. It signs in through the browser and sets itself up for that repo.
cd ~/your-site curl -fsSL https://letter.dev/install.sh | sh - 6
Press ⌘L
Open any page of your site, press ⌘L, sign in and say what to change. Share a link ending in
#letterto send a teammate straight into it.
Good to know
- The script loads asynchronously, so it doesn't hold up your page.
- Changes only reach your site as pull requests your team merges.
- Your site's repo needs to be connected for Builds to open pull requests.
- Pages served from a CMS rather than your repository can't be changed through a pull request.
